And now for something completely different...
Blame it on the Salukis - they were the braintrust responsible for Camp Canine. Salukis are very clever members of the greyhound family: crafty and sneaky, and fast as lightning. We've raised and treasured them for about 40 years, and never vacationed because we weren't comfortable with the available dog care options. We worried the Salukis would outwit a visiting sitter - probably tie her to a chair and invite all their pals in for a wild party; a kennel, of course, was out of the question, because incarceration would shock their pampered sensibilities. In 1983, since at least one of us and usually both of us were home, we decided to open our doors to others who felt the same way about their furry family members. And there were many!

THE CAMP CANINE ADVENTURE
If the thought of leaving your best friend in a kennel while you vacation is enough to make you cancel your plans, welcome! You're our kind of people! We strive to make our home the next best thing to being home for your dog. We offer all the comforts our own dogs enjoy - full house privileges, plump furniture and beds, securely seven-foot fenced exercise area (accessible at will via doggie door), premium pet foods, healthy snacks, and most importantly, lots of love and attention.
A stay at Camp Canine is a social event...on return visits we've seen owners dragged to our door in a mad dash to get inside! Rambunctious dogs are separated from small dogs, those with special needs and those who prefer a more serene atmosphere, so that everyone is comfortable. While the Goldens and Labs romp 'til they drop, our geriatric guests snuggle together on comfy cushions in the warmth of sunbeams and swap old dog tales. Everyone here is 'spoiled' and we think that's the way it should be.
Because our visitors are here to have fun together, only those who like other dogs and people are invited. All vaccinations must be up to date. Bathing is available for a fee.
Camp Canine is located less than five minutes from Dayton International Airport, on hilly wooded acres overlooking Englewood Reserve. If you would like to bring your best friend for a pre-boarding interview, please give us a call at 937/832-5390. We look forward to meeting you!
The dogs are never alone (picture a gang of kindergartners running amok in your home!), but because this is our home we receive and release boarders by appointment only, Monday-Friday 9-6 and Saturday 12-3. No pick up or drop off on Sundays or Holidays. Our rates begin at $22 per day. DAYCARE IS ALSO AVAILABLE!
